Tensas & The Mourners took shape in 2023 when multi-instrumentalist Desha joined what had been a solo project. Desha plays trumpet and drums simultaneously on some songs. They move through a set the way the music demands, building pressure, switching instruments, and rarely doing the same thing twice.

Roots-rock grit meets punk aggression, with enough soul to make it stick. Fierce, energetic, and deliberately unpredictable. They've shared stages with Clyde McGee of Bridge City Sinners, Danbert Nobacon of Chumbawamba, Beans on Toast, and Jeshua Marshall of Larry & His Flask.

Their debut full-length album, The Procession, is out June 2026 on Tall Tale Records.
